Description
This milestone, located approximately 90 metres southeast of Tern Hill House Farmhouse, dates from the late 18th century and has early 19th-century alterations. It is made of red sandstone and features cast-iron plates. The milestone has a triangular section resting on a square base. On the left-hand side, there is a segmental-headed cast-iron plate with the inscription "TO/CHESTER/29/MILES," and on the right-hand side, another plate reads "TO/NEWPORT/11 MILES." At the base, there is a rectangular plate inscribed with "TERNHILL." The cast-iron plates are likely early 19th-century additions, as earlier inscriptions can still be seen in the stone behind them. Tern Hill House Farmhouse is not included in this listing.
