Description
The Lodge to Shaw Hill is an early 19th-century gate lodge located on Preston Road in Whittle-le-Woods. It is constructed from rusticated ashlar and features a low-pitched slate roof that is concealed by a plain parapet, with one chimney on the rear ridge. The building has a T-plan and is a single storey.
The entrance side showcases a pedimented temple front with Ionic columns arranged distyle in antis. It includes a panelled door framed by a moulded architrave, flanked by rectangular windows, each with a moulded architrave. The rear range displays pediments, pilasters, and angle pilasters. There is a small window in the right wing and larger windows in the left wing, which appear to have been altered.
