Description
The Lodge to Rockcliffe House is a gate lodge built in the 1890s. It is constructed of ashlar and features a low hipped slate roof with a chimney on the ridge at the rear. The building has a roughly square plan and is designed in a free classical style, with a low plinth, rusticated pilasters, a cornice, and a parapet that retains some urn finials.
The front facing the drive includes a large semi-circular tripartite bow window on the left, which has curved sashes and a carved frieze. There is also a large porch with a round-headed doorway situated at the angle with the set-back rear bay. The left return wall, which faces Newchurch Road, features a canted bay window flanked by round-headed panels with fluted keystones. This wall extends beyond the pilaster and includes one modern window, suggesting it may be an extension.
