Description

The gate arch to the churchyard of the Church of St Saviour was likely built around 1865 and is part of the boundary wall surrounding the churchyard. The wall is constructed from large sandstone blocks and rises to create a prominent gable, which is topped with a coping that features a trefoil at the peak. The arch itself is large and moulded, with a two-centred shape that springs from jambs incorporating slim carved shafts. The soffit of the arch is distinctly cusped, and at the lower part of the arch, there are ornamental iron gates with traceried open panels.
