Description
Nos. 1 and 1A Waterhouse Green is a house dated 1798 that has been converted into two dwellings. It is built from squared sandstone in watershot coursing and features quoins, with a slate roof and two gable chimneys. The building is two storeys high and has a symmetrical design. There is a central doorway with plain jambs and a lintel, and above this, on the flat floor, is a tall plaque with incised lettering that reads "W:M . Withnell 1798". Each floor has two sashed windows, all with plain surrounds. The left side of the building has a scored render wall with two doors and three windows, while the rear wall is made of random rubble and has several blocked former windows. The right end of the building is adjacent to a row of seven cottages, known as No. 24 Waterhouse Green and others, which share group value with this property.
