Description
The Roebuck is a public house dated 1789, constructed of stone with watershot coursing at the front and rubble at the rear, topped with a slate roof and gable chimneys. The building has a double-pile, three-bay plan and stands two storeys high. It features prominent quoins and sill bands on both floors. The central doorway is framed by a moulded architrave and topped with a moulded open segmental pediment supported by scrolled brackets. Above the doorway on the first floor is a moulded and shouldered datestone inscribed with "T R. M'" and a single-light window. There are two windows on each floor, all with plain stone cases. A later single-storey extension is located at the left end of the building. At the rear, the roof continues to a lower level, and there are two single-storey lean-to extensions attached to the rear wall. The interior has been altered.
