Description
Coppull Old Hall is a farmhouse that dates from the 17th century or earlier and has been altered and extended, with a 20th-century extension to the left that is not included in the listing. The building features a stone plinth and handmade brick construction, with a roof made of stone slates at the rear and slates at the front, topped by a single chimney on the ridge. It consists of three bays and is two storeys high, except for the third bay, which is now a single storey with a lean-to roof.
The front of the house has a modern gabled porch leading to the present front door in the second bay, along with four ground floor windows that have segmental brick heads, which are one and a half bricks deep. The first floor has two altered casement windows. At the rear, there is a doorway at the junction of the first and second bays, which may have originally served as a baffle-entry but is now a toilet. In the third bay, there is a blocked three-light mullioned window with a saw-toothed head and hoodmould, as well as a similar blocked two-light window low in the second bay, along with various altered windows.
Inside, the structure has been altered, but some features of the earlier construction remain, including two ovolo-moulded beams in the second bay and evidence of internal timber framing, such as the base of a post on a stone plinth. Additionally, there is a wide staircase with one straight flight, featuring a string, turned balusters, and a moulded handrail.
