8/88 Coppull Old Hall - - II

Farmhouse, C17 or earlier, altered and extended (C20 extension to left not included in the item). Stone plinth, hand made brick, roof of stone slates at rear, slates at front, with one chimney on the ridge. Three bays. Two storeys (except 3rd bay, which is now single storey with lean-to roof). Modern gabled porch to present front door in 2nd bay; 4 ground floor windows with segmental brick heads (1½ bricks deep), 2 altered casements at 1st floor. Rear has doorway at junction of 1st and 2nd bays, (possibly original baffle-entry, now toilet), in 3rd bay a blocked 3-light mullioned window with saw-toothed head and hoodmould, a similar blocked 2-light window low in 2nd bay, and various altered windows. Interior: altered, with some indications of earlier structure including 2 ovolo-moulded beams in 2nd bay, some evidence of internal timber framing (the base of a post, on a stone plinth), and a wide staircase of one straight flight with string, turned balusters and moulded handrail.
