Description
The stable block to the former Burgh Hall, which was recently demolished, dates from the early 19th century. It is constructed of brick in a Flemish bond with stone dressings and has a slate roof. The building has a rectangular plan and consists of three bays over two storeys. It features a stone plinth and rusticated quoins at the front corners. The central bay, which slightly projects forward, has a pedimented gable and a round-headed wagon arch with rusticated voussoirs, although this is now obscured by modern sliding doors. Above the arch is a round-headed window with stone imposts and a bullseye in the gable. Each side of the central bay has a tall window on both floors, all of which have keystones in the lintels and are now blocked. The sides and rear have various openings that are of no particular interest.
