Description
The Red Herring is a former office block for Coppull Ring Mill, built in 1906. It features red and yellow brick construction with a hipped slate roof and has a square plan consisting of three by three bays, including a canted bay on the northeast side. The building is two storeys high and is situated at the angle of an embankment, with only the upper storey visible from the road. Designed in the Art Nouveau style, it has a yellow terracotta sill band and broad bands of yellow brick at the window head level. Square pilasters with yellow terracotta caps rise above the eaves level, paired at the corners with a taller matching chimney between them. The original entrance, located in the centre of the east side, has been altered to a window but originally featured a fanlight with radiating glazing bars and a semicircular head made of yellow terracotta, complete with a keystone and hollowed spandrels.
