Description

The former coach house, built around 1870, is attached to the east side of the Great Barn at Gawthorpe Hall and has been altered to serve as a gallery and shop. It is constructed from large random rubble and features a hipped slate roof with a corbel table at the gutter cornice. The building is a rectangular two-bay block that is high and single-storey. The front is mostly taken up by two wagon entrances, which have moulded depressed two-centred heads. Above and between these entrances is a small carved medallion set in a moulded diamond recess. The right front corner is buttressed, and there is a cross window in the return wall, along with two similar windows at the rear. The interior has been altered.
