Description
The Colliers Arms Public House is a building dating from 1700, as indicated by the datestone. It features a plaster exterior with an applied timber-frame design, likely over dressed stone, and includes brick stacks and a slate roof. The structure is three storeys high and has two bays. The base reaches the ground floor sill level, with windows on the ground and first floors consisting of four-light 20th-century casements, while the second floor showcases five-light ovolo-mullioned windows. The central entrance is topped by the datestone.
On the left side, some plaster has been lost, exposing a stone rubble wall and bricked-up lights. The gable ends have stacks, and the rear of the building features a sashed stair window along with first-floor ovolo-mullioned windows. Inside, there are ovolo-moulded beams on the ground and first floors. The staircase has a close string design, a pulvinated frieze, twisted balusters (some boxed in), and a moulded handrail. A first-floor room includes a fireplace flanked by pilasters, with a fielded panel above and a dentilled cornice, and possibly has cupboards on either side that are now covered. Additionally, there are some two-fielded-panel doors with bolection moulding and strap hinges.
