Description

A terrace of five houses located on Sandiway Road, dating from around 1840. The houses are built of yellow stock brick laid on edge, with slate roofs. They are generally one room wide and double-depth, with two storeys, although number 17 has been designed with two rooms wide on the ground floor to maintain a symmetrical appearance. Each house has a four-panel door set within a stone architrave surround, topped with a semi-circular head and a fanlight featuring decorative glazing bars. The ground floor windows are 12-pane sashes with flat stone hoods and stone sills. The first floor windows are 9-pane sashes with stone lintels and sills. The houses have one window on the ground floor except number 17 which has two windows. The first floor has two windows per house except for number 17 which has three. The houses share party wall chimney stacks.
