Description

The lychgate at the Church of St. Thomas is a memorial structure dedicated to James Bardsley, who lived from 1851 to 1916. It features rock-faced stone dwarf walls, a timber frame, and a stone slate roof. There are four square posts on each side wall. The two gable frames include openings with cusped tracery and a billeted cambered tie beam supported by shaped diagonal braces. The eaves and verges of the roof overhang, and there are two slatted gates. This lychgate is included for its group value.
