Description
This thatched cottage, located at No. 113 Chester Road in Bramhall, is possibly from the 16th century. It features rendered brick walls and a thatched roof supported by a cruck frame. The cottage consists of a single room that is open to the roof. The front has a central battened door with a small window to the left and a three-light casement window to the right. There are two gable stacks, one of which is from the 20th century. At the rear, there is a two-light gable window and three small windows, two of which are leaded and one has glazing bars. Inside, the exposed roof structure is supported by a closed cruck truss. A smoke hood is nearly intact above a later stone fireplace, although the wattle and daub infill has been removed.
