Description

The Cottage is a 16th-century cottage located on Suck's Lane in Ashampstead. It features a cruck timber frame with white painted brick nogging and some plaster infill panels. The roof is half hipped and thatched, with two dormers that have 19th-century two-light casements, and an off-centre ridge stack to the left. The building consists of four cruck frame bays and has one storey plus an attic. There are five two-light casements and a 20th-century gabled thatched porch situated between the third and fourth windows from the left, which has a boarded door. Inside, there is a floor that was inserted around 1600 and a stack that includes a bread oven. Some of the roof timbers are smoke-blackened.
