Description
This is a thatched cottage, likely dating from the 16th century or earlier. The walls are of rubble construction, covered with thatch which is moulded to the shape of the upper windows. The cottage is a single block with a small, modern extension to the left and a new projection at the rear. It has two storeys and originally had three windows. Most of the windows are modern casements, but one window on the right-hand gable retains a three-light wood mullion with leaded glazing.
Inside, the roof features heavy principals in a raised cruck form. A section of the original fire opening remains in the left-hand gable, alongside the possible remains of a stairwell. A broad stone newel stair is located within a square plan adjacent to a large stone flue towards the centre of the right-hand side. The interior also includes 18th-century shutters, panelling, and doors. Wide floorboards, up to 14 inches in width, are present in the central section of the cottage.
