Description
The Chantry is a detached dwelling that originally included a chapel, founded in 1311 and now mostly dating from the 18th and 19th centuries. The building is a rectangular block that incorporates part of a former buttress and features a central stone stack along with two smaller brick stacks. It is constructed of rubble with some dressed stone and has a stone slate roof. The structure has two storeys and four windows, which are fitted with two and three-light casements that have rectangular leaded panes. Established as a chantry chapel in 1311, it had a gross endowment of 74 shillings at the time of suppression. The building was removed from the list in 1970 but was reinstated as Grade II in 1975.
