Description
Wortley Cottage is a detached dwelling dating from the 18th century. It is constructed of rubble with a stone slate roof and has an L-shaped long building design, featuring a gable facing the main road and a central stone stack. There are signs of a former through-way at the upper end of the building. The gable has three storeys, with a small two-light window at the top, a larger two-light window on the first floor, and a three-light casement window on the ground floor, all under wood lintels and iron lights with leaded square panes. The return front has two storeys, with five windows plus a door and porch. Most of the windows are two-light casements, also under wood lintels and with leaded square panes. The return wing has a recent tiled roof. The building likely originated as two or more cottages.
