Description

The lychgate to the Church of St James was built in 1901-1902 by Sir Edwin Lutyens. It features a timber frame with a hipped pyramidal roof made of Horsham slabs. The structure has braced posts with arched, cambered lintels on the sides, all of which are inscribed. The north side includes three rails with cross bracing and iron spikes, while the south side has a sandstone wall and double braced gates. This lychgate is included in the listing for its group value context.
