Description

The Shere War Memorial is a First World War memorial built in 1921, with later additions. It is prominently located beside the church of St James in the main village square. The memorial features a stone floriated Maltese cross that sits atop a tall, circular tapered column, which is mounted on a circular plinth. This is further elevated by a circular five-stepped base. The inscription on the plinth commemorates the years 1914-1918 and 1939-1945.
