Description
Duncombe Vault, located 1½ feet east of the Church of St James, is an early 18th century chest tomb. The tomb features a dedication to George Duncombe on its lid, which is dated 1746. It is constructed from stone with a darker stone top. The design includes a moulded plinth with raised panels on the sides and a moulded edge on the lid. The corners are accentuated by recessed angle piers that have a curved, bulbous shape. This structure is included for its group value.
