Description
This is a house located at 437 Lower Broughton Road, built around 1840. It is constructed of brick and has a Welsh slate roof. The building is two stories high and features a three-window range with shallow outer gables and a central entrance hall. The doorway is set in a recessed porch, which has a shallow segmental archway, flanked on each side by arched panels that contain windows. The windows on the ground floor are 16-pane sashes with margin lights, while the upper windows are 9-pane sashes with margin lights. There is also a similar 16-pane sash window with a cartouche in a shallow arch on the return elevation, along with a bow window that has paired pilasters and a wide sash window. The house has plain overhanging eaves and axial stacks located towards the rear. At the time of listing, there was external stucco, including cartouches above the windows, but this has since been removed. The interior has not been inspected.
