Description

Whitfield Farmhouse is a house dating from the mid to late 18th century, although it incorporates sections from the early 17th century. The house is constructed of hammer-dressed stone, partly watershot, with a 20th-century tile roof. It has a total of four bays and three storeys. The building features quoins and a projecting plinth. The central double doors are paired, although one is now blocked, and are set within square surrounds. A two-light double-chamfered mullion window is located to the left, with a similar two-light chamfered window to the right. The first floor houses two two-light chamfered windows, with a further window inserted between them. Gable chimney stacks are present. Bay 1 is of the earlier date and is set forward slightly. This bay retains a four-light double-chamfered mullion window with a hoodmould, but is now only one storey high and has garage doors in the left return. The building is included on the list for its group value.
