Description

SD 91 SW ROCHDALE MILNROW ROAD (north side) 7/78 Nos. 303, 305, and 305a

2 Houses. c.1800. Watershot stone with slate roof. No. 303 is double-depth, one bay wide with 3 storeys. No. 305 is double-depth 2-bay with central entrance, 3 storeys and a 3- storey unit to the right which was not for domestic use and has in the past been used as a shippon at ground floor. Both houses may formerly have been back-to-back cottages. No. 303 has flat-faced mullion "weaver's windows" of 3, 6 and 6 lights. No. 305 has square openings to the ground floor and 10-light openings to the others (each now with 2 or 3 blocked in). Each doorway has square-cut monolithic jambs and lintels. The rear has similar mullion windows of 3 and 6-lights, stone quoins and an arched carriage opening with stone voussoirs to the end unit.
