Description
Nos. 8 and 10 on Oldham Road are two houses built in the late 18th century. They are constructed from watershot hammer-dressed stone and feature a graduated stone slate roof. Each house is double-depth, one bay wide, and has three storeys. There is a two-storey wing at the rear of No. 8, which is of slightly later construction.
Both houses have a square-cut door surround on the right with proud dressings, and a five-light recessed flat-faced stone mullion window on the ground and first floors, although No. 10 has two mullions removed. At the second floor level, there is a continuous 13-light workshop window. Each house also features two-light gable windows and a single gable stack. The rear wing is similarly designed but includes later brick chimney stacks.
