Description
Nos. 14 and 16 on Oldham Road are a pair of houses built in the early 19th century. They are constructed from hammer-dressed watershot stone and feature a graduated stone slate roof. The design follows a double-depth central-staircase plan, with three bays and three storeys. The symmetrical front elevation includes a projecting plinth, raised quoins, and shaped eaves gutter brackets.
The central door has a moulded surround and a hood above it. The first and third bays have paired sash windows with square-cut surrounds and separating mullions, while the upper floor of the second bay features single sash windows. All windows have continuous sill bands, although the glazing bars have been removed. The building has gable chimney stacks and a lean-to garage attached to the left gable. The rear includes 2-light gable windows and 4 and 8-light recessed flat-faced mullion windows, along with a central stair window and a taking-in door on the top floor.
