Description
Nos. 170, 172, and 174 on Yorkshire Street are townhouses that have been converted into flats. They were originally built in 1793, with some additions made around 1830. The buildings are constructed of brick with stone dressings and feature a slate roof. The layout consists of two rooms deep and two rooms wide, with a central entrance and staircase. There is a one-bay addition on the right and a three-bay addition on the left, each with its own entrance.
The overall structure has nine bays and stands two storeys high, with hipped roofs. The central five-bay section includes a stone plinth and a Roman Doric doorcase that has an open pediment, a fanlight, and a six-panel door. Sash windows are present throughout, each with flat brick arches and stone sills. The doors to both additions feature semi-circular brick arches, fanlights, consoles, cornices, and four-panelled doors.
