Description

Stoneby Cottage and Boarshurst Cottage are a pair of late 18th-century houses located on the south side of Boarshurst Lane, Saddleworth. They are built of hammer-dressed watershot stone with a graduated stone slate roof. Each house is single-depth and one bay wide, rising over three storeys. Each has a six-light recessed flat-faced stone mullion window on each floor, and a doorway has been inserted into the ground floor window of each. A 20th-century porch has been added to Stoneby Cottage. Two ridge chimney stacks are present, one of which has been rebuilt in brick. To the left gable are three two-light mullion windows, along with three 20th-century openings. A central rear door retains a heavy stone lintel.
