Description

Two houses, numbers 199 and 203 Chew Valley Road, were built in the late 18th or early 19th century. They are constructed of watershot stone with a graduated stone slate roof. Each house is single-depth and two rooms wide, with three storeys. Number 199, on the left, has a blocked doorway to the right, a three- and four-light window on the ground floor, and eleven-light windows above. The front door is now located in the gable, which also has a blocked taking-in door. Number 203, on the right, which appears to be slightly earlier than the other house, has a central door flanked by two-light windows, and seven- and eight-light windows on the first and second floors. All windows have recessed flat-faced stone mullions and king mullions. There are three ridge chimney stacks, two of which are rendered. A small lean-to is set against the rear of the property.
