Description
Kinders Lodge is a house located on Kinder's Lane in Saddleworth, built in the early 19th century. The front is made of ashlar stone, while the rear is constructed from watershot stone, topped with a graduated stone slate roof. The house has a double-depth central-staircase plan, featuring three bays and three storeys, with symmetrical two-storey wings added slightly later on either side.
Notable architectural features include a projecting plinth, sill bands, an eaves cornice, and raised quoins. The central entrance door is flanked by five-light windows, with additional five, two, and five-light windows on the upper floors. The side wings have a similar design, each featuring a three-light window on every floor. All windows are fitted with recessed flat-faced stone mullions. At the rear, there is a tall stair window along with three, four, and five-light windows as previously mentioned. The house is capped with gable chimney stacks that have water-tabling and oversailing courses.
