Lock-keeper's cottage. Dated 1865 on lintel of door. Brown brick in stretcher bond, with a band of black and white brick, painted sandstone dressings, and slate roof. Double-depth double-fronted plan. Two storeys, a symmetrical 2-window facade; central gabled porch with lintel dated "A.D. 1865" and pitched roof with projected verges; transomed tripartite casement windows at ground floor and 2-light casements at 1st floor with brick sill-band carried round, all these windows with raised sills and large rectangular lintels; roof with overhanging eaves and verges, gable chimneys. Forms group with Lock No.5 (q.v.), and with Bridge No.9 (Mill Street Bridge), q.v..
