Description
A range of commercial buildings dating to around 1840, located on Market Place. The building is three storeys high and has an ashlar facade, extending over three bays with a rounded corner and a single-bay return at the right-hand end. The architectural style is austere classical. The windows are sash windows; the corner window is wider and has an added surround, while the ground floor windows feature cornices. Original ashlar cornices and pilasters frame the shop windows and doors. Number 8 has decorative metal glazing bars to the overlight, and Number 59 has a 20th-century shopfront, which may conceal an earlier facade. The building includes the property at 59 Bridge Street.
