Description
The School House was built around 1864, primarily using materials salvaged from Manchester Parish Church, which was undergoing restoration at the time, and from the old courthouse of Holcombe, which was being demolished. The main doorway features a gable hood and a lintel dated 1664, and it is likely that the window mullions and hoods also originate from the courthouse. The gutter gargoyle at the top of the gable front, along with the carved crossed keys and a datestone from 1414, were salvaged from the parish church. The building is constructed of coursed rubble and has two storeys. It has two windows: the left window consists of two small lights above the door, while the right window is a three-light design with dripmoulds that are not aligned. There are six corbels under the eaves. The return front to the right features a plain central porch and one three-light hooded mullioned window.
