Description
Plant Farmhouse is a building dating from 1739, with an extension added in 1793. It is constructed from coursed rubble, with the 1793 section featuring larger, squared courses. The farmhouse is two storeys high. The original right-hand section has two windows, each with four lights, featuring flush mullions and surrounds. There are drip-moulds above the ground floor windows, with the left-hand window being taller due to a lowered sill, likely from the 1793 alterations. A doorway on the left has a large lintel inscribed "P/WA/1739," which refers to William Plant, and features a ledged door. The right-hand section's height was raised by three courses during the same build as the later left-hand section, which has two double-light windows on the ground floor and a centrally located three-light window above, all with flush mullions. The left section also has flush quoins. A datestone inscribed "WM/W/1793" refers to the Woodcock family, who married into the Plant family. The roof is made of stone slabs. The rear of the farmhouse features less regular mullioned windows, including a transomed stair window.
