Description
Ivy Cottage is a mid-17th century cottage featuring a brick-nogged oak small-frame set on a sandstone plinth, topped with a grey slate roof that was formerly thatched. There is a one-bay brick extension at the rear. The long side walls retain almost complete frames, with Roman numerals marked on the timbers at the joints. The front of the cottage has been rebuilt twice, first in brick during the 19th century and later restored to an oak frame in the late 20th century. Inside, the layout has been altered, but the positions of the lobby entrance and the former inglenook are still visible, along with reused main oak beams. The cottage is listed for its group value.
