Description
The Pickering Arms Inn is a 17th-century inn that has undergone alterations. It features an oak small-framed structure with brick-nogged sections and extensions made of brick and sandstone, topped with a grey slate roof. The building is two storeys high and has a T-shaped layout. The leg of the T is supported by a 1.5 metre brick plinth and includes a lean-to extension made of brick and stone, likely dating from the 18th century, at the rear.
At the front, there are two small-pane casements on each storey and a lobby entrance that is sheltered by a lean-to porch on brackets, which probably dates from the early 20th century. The head of the T, which was likely originally used for stabling, has been converted into licensed and living accommodation. This section is constructed of brick and features small-pane casements, two boarded loading doors in the gable that once served a hayloft, and two blocked loophole vents in the side wall. The interior of the building has been altered.
