Description

This milestone, likely from the early 19th century, is made of stone and features a triangular shape with a flat top and a straight back. The incised lettering on the milestone indicates distances, reading "TO WARRINGTON 8 MILES" on the left and "TO MANCHESTER 12 MILES" on the right. It was erected before 1848/9 along the former Warrington to Manchester turnpike road, which was established in 1753. This milestone holds significant historic interest as it serves as a reminder of the area's transport history.
