Description

The stone flag wall surrounding the old stocks and cross is a Grade II listed structure located on the south-west side of Townfield Lane in Warburton. This wall, which also extends along Wigsey Lane, dates from the 18th or 19th century and is made of local red sandstone. It measures approximately 25 meters in length and is constructed of vertical stone slabs, each about 1 meter by 0.5 meters, with the top edge chamfered. The slabs are held together by intermediate iron cramps. This wall is noted as an example of a common type of local walling.
