Description

This milestone, likely from the early 19th century, is made of whitewashed stone and features a triangular shape with a flat top and straight back. The lettering on the milestone indicates distances, reading 'TO WARRINGTON 5 MILES' on the left and 'TO MANCHESTER 13 MILES' on the right. It was erected before 1849 along the former Warrington-Manchester turnpike road, which was established in 1753. The milestone holds significant historic interest as a reminder of the area's transport history.
