Description
The war memorial in Rixton with Glazebrook was built around 1920 from sandstone, with an inscription for World War II added later. It features a square column on a square base and plinth, topped by a cross. The flat square plinth supports a square base that has an inverted cavetto moulding at the bottom. A band around the top of the base reads, "Remember those men of Hollinfare who gave their lives in the Great War 1914-1919." The east side of the memorial lists the names of 12 men, while the west side displays "1939.1945" along with the names of 3 men. The memorial is located on a traffic island, which is enclosed by black and gold iron bollards. It honors the men of Hollinfare who lost their lives in both the First and Second World Wars.
