Description

Bark House Farmhouse is an early 19th-century farmhouse located in Winsford. It is constructed of red English garden wall bond brick and features a slate roof. The building has three storeys and a basement.

The entrance front is symmetrical with three bays. It has a projecting plinth with a stone top that forms a surround for the basement windows on the right and left. The central ground floor doorway is framed by a stone surround and features a six-panel door with a two-light overdoor. On either side of the doorway are three-light windows with cambered heads and stone sills. The first floor has a similar arrangement, with flat-lintelled windows and a two-light window in the centre. The second floor mirrors this design. Gable stacks are present on the roof.

To the right, there is a two-storey 19th-century addition that includes two-light cambered headed windows on the ground floor and two-light flat-lintelled windows on the first floor.

The rear of the farmhouse has five bays that are nearly symmetrical. There is a doorway to the right of centre with a flat lintel made of headers beneath a cambered relieving arch. The left side features two widely spaced bays, while the right side has two less widely spaced bays, both with cambered heads and cross windows on the ground and first floors. There is a blocked window on the first floor to the right, and smaller flat-lintelled windows on the second floor, which are blocked on the right and left.
