Description

Foxes Green Farmhouse is a mid-to-late 17th-century farmhouse situated in former Wimsford Urban District, now Foxwist Green. The building is timber-framed with brick and wattle-and-daub infill, although the roof is now covered with asbestos sheeting, having previously been thatched. It follows a two-cell, baffle-entry plan.

The front elevation has a stone plinth, with ten by two bays of small timber framing. The lower rows of framing are filled with brick, while the upper rows have cement-rendered wattle-and-daub infill. Eaves are boxed in with softwood planking. A central ridge chimney stack is present. A 20th-century addition has been made to the left, incorporating a doorway.

The right-hand gable end features a stone and brick plinth and four by three bays of small timber framing with brick and wattle-and-daub infill. It has a queen post with angle struts to the gable and a V-strut above. The rear elevation has a stone and brick plinth and eleven by two bays of small timber framing with wattle-and-daub infill, alongside a 20th-century addition. The boxed eaves are consistent with the front elevation. All windows are of 19th-century date.
