Description

This milestone, located 25 meters south of Whitehall Bridge, dates from the early 19th century. It is made of pink sandstone and has a slightly triangular shape with a triangular top. The left side of the milestone is inscribed with "To Congleton 11 miles," while the right side reads "To Wilmslow 1 mile," both in well-cut, serifed script that is now becoming worn.
