Description
The gate in the walled garden located southwest of Dorfold Hall dates from around 1824. It features stone dressed brickwork and a wrought iron gate. The structure includes high standing flush stone dressed square piers with moulded plinths and projecting caps that support stone eagles. The opening contains a single wide tall gate flanked by tall narrow metal infill panels, which display a serpentine zig-zag motif. The main gate design consists of square bars topped with spears and a dog-bar. Above the gate, there is an overthrow featuring the Tollemache fret device, flanked by scrolls and topped with a cross finial that incorporates spears and scrolls.
