Description
The Star Inn is a public house dating from the late 17th century, with later alterations. It features timber framing and plastered brickwork with planted timbers, topped by a tiled roof. The building has two storeys and three bays, with a reconstructed stonework plinth. The timber framing is in a close studding style, with plastered infilling. A projecting timber gabled porch includes a framed, ledged and braced door with false strap hinges and leaded lattice wing lights. Most windows are three-light flush casements with glazing bars, although there are single light casements on either side of the porch roof at the first floor level. The gabled-end stacks are prominent, and the roof slopes have alternating bands of plain and shaped tiles. Original timber framing is visible at the first floor level at the rear and in the south gable. At the front north-east corner, there is an old stone mounting block with steps. Inside, the original cellar features plastered and exposed beams.
