Description
Pickmere Farm is a house, formerly a farmhouse, with a date stone indicating it was built in 1772. It is constructed of red Flemish bond brick with stone dressings and has a slate roof. The building has three storeys and features a symmetrical entrance front with three bays, where the central bay projects slightly. The central doorcase has plain reveals and a 2-light fanlight above, with a solid stone lintel that is carved to imitate heavy rusticated voussoirs with a dropped keystone. The door consists of eight panels, with four upper rectangular panels and four lower triangular panels arranged in a St Andrews cross frame.
On either side of the entrance, there are three-light casement windows with stone cills, similar to those on the first floor, which originally extended lower to match the depth of the unchanged central two-light first floor window. The second floor also has similar three-light lateral windows and a two-light central window, all of which remain unchanged. Above the central window, there is a gable that contains the date stone.
On the rear elevation, the central staircase window, which was originally continuous from the ground to the second floor, has been divided into two horizontal lights for the first floor and five horizontal lights for the second floor. There are lateral three-light cambered headed windows on the ground, first, and second floors, which diminish in size. A 20th-century outshut has been added to the ground floor.
