Description

Aston Park is a house dating from 1715. It is constructed of red Flemish and English garden wall bond brick with stone dressings and a slate roof. The symmetrical west front has five bays. The central entrance features an arched doorcase with a semi-circular hood supported by consoles. There are two 3x6 pane sash windows on either side of the doorway at ground floor level, with stone sills and lintels. Five similar windows are present on the first floor. Diapering in heart and diamond patterns decorates the brickwork between the first floor windows. The house has a wooden entablature, and three gabled attic windows contain 2x3 pane sashes. Moulded lead rainwater heads and downpipes, dated, are present. The south front features two 3x4 pane sash windows on the ground floor, with similar windows on the first floor, alongside one 4x3 pane casement. A central roundel to the attic is located on the third floor. A 20th-century extension is attached to the right side. The north side of the house has blocked, cambered-headed windows.

The interior features a wide, central spinal corridor on both floors, with two 15-foot square rooms on either side of the corridor on both floors. Ground floor rooms have eight-panel doors within bolection moulded doorcases with a cavetto moulding above. The rooms also feature similarly moulded fireplaces. An open well staircase has twist balusters, panelled newels with moulded drops, and a further spiral staircase is located to the north of the main staircase.
