Description
Ackers Farmhouse is a farmhouse built around 1830. It is constructed of Flemish bond brick and has a graduated slate roof. The building features a double-depth central-staircase plan with two storeys and a rear wing. The symmetrical front elevation includes a central six-panel door flanked by small side columns and topped with a decorative fanlight. There are three bays with two ground floor and three first floor 16-pane sash windows, although two of these have been replaced by 20th-century casements. All windows have stone sills and cambered lintels, with the central window featuring a keystone. The farmhouse has an eaves gutter cornice and gable chimney stacks, with similar windows found on the rear and right sides, as well as an arched stair window. Inside, the farmhouse retains six-panel doors throughout, a dogleg staircase with a rosewood handrail, and marble and cast-iron fireplaces.
