Description
This barn, located approximately 20 metres southeast of Entwistle Hall, dates from around 1700. It is constructed from sandstone rubble with quoins and stone dressings, topped with a stone slate roof featuring gable copings and kneelers. The barn has a rectangular four-bay plan and square breathers in all walls. The north front includes a sliding door that covers a wagon entrance to the second bay, along with doorways to the first, third, and fourth bays, all featuring large lintels and straight dripstones. The lintel of the central doorway has a returned-end segmental moulding. The rear wall contains a doorway that has been altered into a window, featuring a splayed lintel and stepped dripstone, as well as a two-light window with a chamfered mullion and hoodmould; the east end wall has one similar window. Inside, there are original cow stalls at the east end, and the fourth bay may have been built as a dwelling.
