Description

This barn is likely from around 1700 and stands approximately 40 metres north of Wayoh Fold Farmhouse. It is constructed from roughly-coursed dry-jointed sandstone rubble with quoins, and has a roof of stone slates along with some slate tiles. The gable copings are moulded, featuring prominent grooved kneelers. The barn follows an L-shaped four-bay plan, with the first bay projecting. A stone wagon entrance is located in the second bay, sheltered by a canopy supported from the first bay via a triple-moulded corbel. A doorway with a massive lintel is found within the re-entrant wall of the first bay, another similar doorway at the right end of the fourth bay, and a later doorway has been inserted into the third bay. Two-light mullioned windows, each with a hood mould, are present in the first, third, and fourth bays. A loading door is set into the first floor of the fourth bay, and ventilation openings are visible in all walls. The interior has not been inspected.
